Foster lifelong learning habits
to thrive in an era of amazing opportunities but also with accelerating change and fake news
Accelerated pace of change and fake news
The pace of change is accelerating
Technology is developing faster and faster, and the speed is not likely to slow down. This acceleration is having a tremendous impact on society, organizations, and individuals. It will mean a lot of new challenges as people will have to adapt continuously, but also an incredible amount of opportunities opens up for those that can take advantage of the emerging possibilities.
Opinions and fake news is on the rise
At the same time fake news and opinions not based on facts, in combination with filter bubbles and our inherent confirmation bias, is manipulating us and our society. For example, according to a recent survey, 34% of millennials are not sure the Earth is round!
Research also points to that knowledge is a foundation for innovation and that intellectual curiosity drives learning and help coming up with creative solutions.
Lifelong learning habits to thrive
For our children to succeed in this environment, habits of lifelong learning and a solid foundation of fact-based knowledge are vital attributes. It’s something we as parents have a responsibility to foster. We believe that the way we learn is changing and will rely much more on a self-motivated pursuit of knowledge.
